İznik’te bir ilk! 8 bin yıllık ayak izi sergilendi

The first was in Iznik, the world-famous historical city of Bursa, which is on the UNESCO provisional heritage list and is eagerly expected to be included on the main list this year.

An 8,000-year-old footprint in Yenişehir district has been taken under protection at the Iznik Archaeological Museum, which opened a few months ago and is one of two important museums in the world with its architectural example. Archaeologists managed to discover a structure consisting of 4 adjacent houses around 6400 BC, during their research in the barcın Yenişehir area, which is a historical area. A cache of lentil seeds, bone spoons, figures of human animals and stone axes were found in the house.

Taylan Sevil, former director of the Iznik Museum, said: “The Barçın Mound, where the 8,000-year-old footprint was found, is as important as the world-famous Hinge Mound, where it was previously excavated. These are one of the first settlements where agriculture began in Anatolia since the Neolithic. The Iznik Museum, which houses these findings, is of course a very important museum in the world. This museum houses very important artifacts from prehistory to the Ottoman period.
